Tom Kendrick (MBA, MSEE, PMP) is the author of Identifying and Managing Project Risk: Essential Tools for Failure-Proofing Your Project, Second Edition (AMACOM, 2009), Results Without Authority: Controlling a Project When the Team Doesn't Report to You (AMACOM, 2006) and The Project Management Tool Kit: 100 Tips and Techniques for Getting the Job Done Right (AMACOM, 2004). Currently, he is a Senior Project Manager for Visa Inc. in the San Francisco Bay Area. Tom is also an educator, and he regularly conducts project and risk management classes for AMA and for UC Berkeley. He frequently presents at conferences and universities on risk management, project and program management, and other related topics.
Tom spent 20 years with Hewlett-Packard, including 12 years with the HP Project Management Initiative which provided leadership for continuous improvement of project management throughout the company. He has over 35 years of project management experience, managing a wide range of engineering, information technology, and networking projects. In addition to his work at HP and Visa, tom has also directed projects in the United States, Europe, and Asia for General Electric, DuPont, and ADP Network Services.
Tom has a BSEE from Princeton University, an MSEE from the University of Pennsylvania, and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He is an active member of the Project Management Institute and the PMI Silicon Valley chapter, and is a certified Project Management Professional.
